In almost every industrial application the so-called two-equation models are used as turbulence models. These are statistical turbulence models, which make use of the Reynolds averaging procedure. in engineering these models are very important. The central problem of these models is the formulation of the reynolds stress tensor. Standard formulations are based on the simple Reynolds hypothesis, which postulates a linear relation with symmetric part of the velocity gradient.
