Andreoli (chair, Department of Internal Medicine; physiology, University of Arkansas College of Medicine) has added new sections on men's health and bioterrorism, plus new boxes on emerging and future scientific developments that will impact clinical management, to this sixth edition of a text for students of internal medicine, as well as house officers, family practitioners, and physicians in other disciplines. Each section begins with a description of the physiology and biochemistry of the system or field to be considered, followed by accounts of the diseases of the organ system or field in question. This edition makes more use of four-color illustrations, tables, and algorithms for evaluating the functions of different systems.
