New Optimization Algorithms in Physics
Alexander K. Hartmann, Heiko Rieger
In an extension rather than update of Optimization Algorithms in Physics, mostly European physicists sample new optimization algorithms that have been devised by physicists from various fields, sometimes based on methods developed by computer scientists and mathematicians. They also demonstrate the scope and efficiency of the algorithms by describing typical situations in physics where they are useful, covering applications in physics, phase transitions in combinatorial optimization problems, and new heuristics and interdisciplinary applications. The pedagogical approach is suitable for newcomers and undergraduate students in computational physics.
