My goal in publishing this book was to bring together an international cadre of scientists working on both new emerging areas in addition to well-established lines of insect immunological research. Insect antiviral immunity, immunological memory, and specificity of immune responses to parasites, pathogens, and parasitoids are just a few examples of emerging areas. Applications of insect immunology to basic science, agriculture, biotechnology, and medicine are also discussed.
