Basic Interests
Frank R. Baumgartner, Beth L. Leech
This book is a great example of a literature review within political science. From that standpoint, it is worth buying if you are confronted with the task of putting one together yourself. In addition to the fact that it would serve as an exemplar of a lit review, it also sheds a great deal of light on the manner in which the study of interest groups had progressed. These organizations had been neglected since the post-war era, until today when they are seen as one the prime reasons why evolution has been slow in coming to American politics. These authors highlight areas in which further research is need if we are to know more about their role on this stage.
